Hosting Events for Retail Stores: Spring Edition
In the bustling world of retail, small home decor stores often find themselves navigating a sea of competition. Yet, amidst the digital age, there's a timeless charm in fostering real-life connections and experiences. One powerful way for your store to stand out and build lasting relationships with the community is by hosting engaging events. From flower arranging classes to succulent planting sessions and tray styling workshops, these events offer a multitude of benefits that extend far beyond just making sales.
Get creative with your inventory and utilize pieces that can serve multiple purposes or appeal to different decor styles. We chose a neutral colored riser that can be used throughout different seasons. You can offer smaller decor items to bundle and pair with the riser or provide different options for an additional fee. Follow along as we style our Lane Riser 3 ways.
Riser with Plants How-To:
- Step 1 - Take your riser and top with reindeer moss.
- Step 2 - Add a small grapevine wreath.
- Step 3 - Take small seedlings in peet pots and add to the top of the moss. Real plants could be swapped for faux plants.

- Step 2 - Add a small grapevine wreath.
- Step 3 - Style with moss balls, grapevine or other natural deco balls.
- Step 4 - Add a holiday nod with small decorative filler. For this spring theme we used carrots.
Riser Birds Nest How-To:
- Step 1 - Take your riser and top with reindeer moss.
- Step 2 - Add a small grapevine wreath.
- Step 3 - Add spanish moss. The spanish moss adds to the natural birds nest look.
- Step 4 - Add egg decor.
- Step 5 - Optional, but we added feathers for a foraged, natural look.
The birds nest decor videos became quite popular this year as a spring decor option. There are many ways to personalize this iteration. This option could also double as a unique merchandising display. Swap the eggs for decorative, sentiment stones or even small bird figures like our Nalin Birds.
In-store events allow you to create a personal connection with your customers, build community and make new friends. They give you a platform to showcase your expertise - maybe you're a home and garden store or apothecary that specializes in foraging? All the while, driving store traffic, sales and enhancing your brand identity.
